I painted this a while back but I’ve been holding off on posting it until I could finish a short story I was writing to go along with it. I’m deciding that I’ll just post that whenever I’m finished with it.
The idea for this concept is that colonies on the planet Mercury have to be mobile- constantly walking away from or toward the sun on the planet's twilight zone. These colonies can take many forms, most of which are on tracks on the surface or fixed at the north and south poles. However, a major tourist attraction is the Walking Cities: Lumbering mountains of habitation units that form entire cities within their reinforced walls. These cities can stand upright on stout legs thanks to the planet's low gravity, and walk slowly to keep up with the planet's orbit.
