First pass of my scifi character Alyx- the space convict.
I haven't decided how much I want to give away about him, but what I CAN tell you is that he was arrested when he was 18, spent 3 years in a Lunar prison, and has been sentenced to 10 additional years of community service with the Earth Revitalization Union (ERU) Protectorate Rehab Taskforce.

The ERU Protectorate is an extensive fleet of colonies orbiting between Earth and Luna. The Protectorate is controlled ultimately by the United Nations of Earth, and primarily functions to assist in the centuries-long battle to restore extinct Earth ecosystems. The ERU has kept samples of every species of organism that has lived on the planet from the 20th Century onward, and houses many miniature biomes to experiment with restoration techniques.

The ERU has also launched a rehabilitation program for convicted criminals in the Protectorate in the Lunar colonies. Convicts are often given the opportunity to shorten their sentence by givi
